Workshop Rationale

The key-issues of the conference include (but are by no means limited to) the following:

LSP teaching & pedagogy

  • LSP research and language teaching in the university, and in professional and corporate settings
  • English-medium instruction in the university
  • choice of varieties (e.g. ELF) to be taught as a second or foreign language in specialised domains
  • CLIL
  • Traditional and new media in LSP teaching
  • Corpus linguistics and LSP teaching

LSP and translation (contrastive, interlinguistic and intercultural perspectives)

  • LSP research, translation and language teaching;
  • Translation practices in institutional, technical, scientific and academic settings
  • Translation and intercultural mediation in public diplomacy and in transnational corporate communication;
  • Translation and rewriting in popularizing communication;
  • Translation and localization in the new media.
